At Harrison's Hope, we believe that truly inclusive communities start with environments designed for everyone—especially individuals living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and other neurodevelopmental differences. Our new Accessibility Consulting and Co-Design Support service helps organizations, municipalities, schools, service providers, and businesses create spaces that reduce barriers and promote thriving.
Built Environment Audits
We conduct comprehensive, built environment audits to identify accessibility barriers facing the disability community, including neurodivergent populations like those living with FASD. Our audits go beyond standard mobility considerations to examine:
Each audit delivers a clear, prioritized report with practical recommendations for retrofitting or for proper design planning for new builds. These audits ensure that universal design is applied to all environments, ensuring meaningful and equitable access for all.
RHF Accessibility Certified Option
Would you like to participate in an RHF audit instead? Harrison's Hope has that option available, too! Harrison's Hope very own Director of Innovation & Program Design is RHFAC certified and able to conduct an RHF audit for your business. Companies pursuing this avenue will qualify for the RHFAC rating and certification. Learn more here: Get RHF Accessibility Certified | Rick Hansen Foundation
Co-Design Consulting & Inclusive Engagement
We bring lived experience to the blueprint of your success.
True accessibility isn't about checking boxes after the fact; it's about designing with, not for, the people who use your spaces and services. We partner with organizations to build meaningful, structured co-design processes that integrate the insights of disabled people into your projects from day one—or help you pivot and embed them seamlessly if your project is already underway.
Our Services
Strategic Engagement Infrastructure — We help you design and build the framework to include disabled people in your process from the very beginning, ensuring lived experience guides your project from concept to execution.
Focus Groups & Lived Experience Insights — We facilitate targeted focus groups and interviews to capture meaningful, actionable feedback from disabled individuals, turning authentic insights into clear strategies.
Advisory Committee Recruitment & Leadership — We help you recruit the right people with lived experience for advisory committees and guide you on how to effectively collaborate with them throughout the lifecycle of your project.
Actionable Reports & Implementation Guidance — We translate community insights into comprehensive recommendation reports, providing a clear roadmap to help your team implement changes successfully.
Inclusive Procurement & Design Oversight — We bridge the gap between insights and reality by providing clear guidance for architects, selecting accessible furniture and products, and ensuring the final space or program matches the community's needs.
Post-Launch Staff Training — We facilitate specialized training for your newly hired staff or existing teams, ensuring they understand how to effectively support and work alongside disabled populations.
Where We Partner
Whether you are launching a new program, designing a service, planning a renovation, or constructing a new build, we ensure the voices of those most affected are leading the way. If your project has already started, we seamlessly step in to audit, adjust, and inject authentic co-design elements into your existing timeline.
Note: We are passionate about our work and the transformation it brings. We often work to different budgets and needs. Please get in touch if you have an event, training need or organizational aspiration you think we can support — we will do our best to accommodate your specific learning requirements, aspirations or budgets.
